This section of the national ACLU site entitled "Racial Equality" containssummaries of several links related to affirmative action.

American Civil Liberties Union - Southern California
With a substantive history of and many facts about affirmative action, thissite is a good resource for the issue in general and has a special focus on California. Recently added is a paper by law professor Erwin Chemerinsky describing the potential effects of the anti-affirmative action measure onthe state's November 1996 ballot, the deceptively titled "California Civil Rights Initiative."

This site is filled with information on the efforts to defeat Proposition 209 in California, and has been updated to include information on a current campaign to reverse 209.

Civil Rights Division
The U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division enforces federal anti-discrimination laws. Their Web site includes background information on affirmative action, recent court cases, and speeches by Assistant Attorney General Deval Patrick and President Clinton.
