Our health is our greatest gift. As women
we have the responsibility to ensure that we are in the
best of health for our loved ones as well as for ourselves.
One way to maintain our health is to fight breast cancer
by having a yearly mammogram.
All women are at risk of developing breast
cancer, and that risk increases as we grow older. It is
vital that you have a mammogram every year. A mammogram
is a life saver because it can find breast cancer early.
When breast cancer is found early, the chances of survival
are as high as 95 percent!
If you have never had a mammogram, please
contact my office (202-224-4654) for a brochure which addresses
concerns that some women have about mammograms. Please call
your physician today to schedule a mammogram. If you are
a Maryland resident and cost is a problem for you, please
call 1-800-477-9774 to find a free/low-cost program in your
area.
If you have already had a mammogram or have
had breast cancer, you still need to have a mammogram once
a year. A mammogram will find a lump up to two years before
you could feel it. Remember we must never stop taking care
of our health -- no matter what our age.
Finding breast cancer early and getting prompt
treatment is the key to maintaining good health. I cannot
urge you enough to get a yearly mammogram. It can save
your life.
Sincerely,
