Tell President Obama to reverse the HHS decision to block FDA approval of Plan B over the counter without an age restriction. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius took unprecedented action today to overrule the FDA's recommendation. This cannot stand. Women and girls' lives are in the balance.

Rape is Rape: test rape kit backlogs & update the FBI's definition of rape now
Each year tens of thousands of individuals report incidents of rape to law enforcement; however, rape has the lowest arrest and prosecution rates of all violent crimes in the United States. Part of the problem is a backlog of untested rape evidence kits. Testing these kits must be a priority.

It's also high time for the FBI to modernize their archaic definition of rape ("The carnal knowledge of a female forcibly and against her will") to reflect the reality of rape in the United States. The Department of Justice must update the Uniform Crime Report so that the definition of rape includes all victims. Every rape should be counted.

Stop Defunding of Family Planning
The pro-choice forces defeated the Republican House leadership attempt in the 2011 federal budget to bar all federal funding to Planned Parenthood; to completely defund the nation's family planning program; and to cut international family planning aid by 40%. Now we must make sure we defeat all attempts to defund family planning in the 2012 federal budget.

Ask US Leaders to Stop Abstinence Only Programs
Urge the President and Congress to stop abstinence only programs that are helping to spread AIDS. Ask them to fight AIDS with science and medicine, not ideology. Condoms must not be an afterthought.

Ask the Senate to Adopt the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women
For the first time in EIGHT years, the US Senate is holding a hearing on the importance of ratifying the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). This hearing is a great first step, but we need each Senator to support CEDAW and urge Senator Kerry to hold a vote on the CEDAW Treaty now. This stark fact that the United States has failed to ratify CEDAW compromises U.S. credibility worldwide as a leader in both human rights and women's rights
